I think you may have taken the term 'glitter' to an extreme with your board. The banner's well done but the menu and title grads are a little distracting and you can't realy read the 'Forum Name, Topics, Posts, Last Posts.' Your on/off icons are great and should be kept. I would resize your forum width to match with the banner width. Your colour scheme is really nice too, perfect balance of pink and green with a little white. And you have a perfect number of boards for a forum that is just starting out, and I like it how you've included the GIMP also. The first ever forum I've ever seen with a hint of GIMP on it. The only thing that could really be improved with your forum is all the buttons, you may want to customize them, it would make your forum look more professional. And you may want to get rid of the Google bar at the bottom, it's really not needed. Go to admin-->general settings--and select no for the google bar to be seen. Overall, your forum is doing great. ;D

A little glitter goes a long way. I would replace that glittering grad with something not glittery. Your backdrop would look better in an emerald green. Your on button is quite cute, so I would keep that. I would improve the off button. The outline could be changed to dark pink. Your banner could be improved, it's the plain pink that bothers me. If you stop by Graghic Requests, I'll be happy to fix it up for you, including the off button.

I think it looks much better, though I still would like to see it with the green backdrop. It doesn't have to stay and it can be adjusted.
