Extra Smilies Next to Post 0.1

This code will add all of the smilies next to your post that you want. It is all styled to match your forum too. You can also position the table below the original smilies or you can position it in the cell that says "Message:". Do not PM, or email me for support.

Step 1 -
Find the array that is called 'smile' at the top. The first smiley must start with the number '0' in the square brackets ('[0]'). Then, each new smiley that you add, the number must go up by one. You must also edit the URL of everyone, and you can edit the emotion character. Make sure that you do not use a 'single' quote, a "double" quote, or the ">" character.

Step 2 -
Now that you have all of the smilies in, you must make it so when the smiley is posted, it turns into an image. Now you must go to Admin > Censored Words and for every smiley that you have, you must enter the smiley character in the first slot, then the fallowing tag below but with your own URL:
[img]URL OF SMILEY (change for each one)[/img]
Make sure that you repeat this pattern for every one but with new URLs in each one.

Editing appearance -
I know that people like to separate smilies, so if you use the fallowing tag in the smile array, it will act like a <br> (break) and skip a line for more smilies:
  smile[#] = ['BREAK'];
^ Remember to change the #.

for the WEBSITE.COM/IMAGES/YOURHOST/ what would be the YOURHOST and IMAGES.

yes that means host and the path till the last "/" right before the image name

and in the lower part of the code enter only "imagename.gif" not the whole path.

Nice code, but I've come across an add problem.

When I set the code up to display the extra smilies in a 2nd row below the standard row, it breaks when viewed with Opera.

What happens is... the default row of smilies no longer work. You click, but nothing happens. Hovering over the icons shows that the javascript is not read properly.

It also causes there to be some strange characters displayed to the left of one of the smilies.

The 2nd row of smilies, added with this code, work fine.



Also, using other browsers, all smilies work fine.

WHen I alter this code to add the extra smilies to the left of the reply window instead, everything works fine in all browsers, Opera included.

So, the code is working, but just wondering if there's a way to get it to work in Opera with the code set to display the extra smilies below the default smilies, as that looks cleaner.

Well..Wanted to ask..

Is there anyway we can have these extra smilies for specific user groups for example i want to limit these special smilies only for admin, global moderators and moderators..Is it possible??

It can be limited to those with the ability to lock posts if that's good enough?

So it wont work..

I actually wanted it for specific groups..like i wanted to give active member some special privilages .. For example if i have a group called X , can't i giv them the ability to use these special emoticons? Okay..this is answered..Now the 2nd part please!! ;D

That way..i wanted 3 groups.. First group will hav say 5 extra emoticons..2nd group 10 (including the first 5) and third group 15 (which includes the 10 emoticons of the first and second group)

Instead of the usernames match..cant we have a group match? And likewise..a seperate code fore each group?

thats the problem , the group information is not avaible in the post page, so thier is nothing to match it with, to find out if the user is in group 1 or group 2.

so usernames only can be used.
