Question for coders

I've always wanted to learn a few things computerwise. I've taught myself photoshop, and a bit of beginner-intermediate html-coding, but i'm nowhere near what you guys do. I'm interested in learning Javascript and all that other goodness, but I have no clue where to start since I don't really even know what everything is called! How did you guys get started? I see you guys have tutorials, but if i have absolutely no clue what anything is, they don't help much . I need to start from scratch, would you happen to know what that 'scratch' is?

Start with the basics and work your way up. You need to have a solid understanding of HTML markup and style sheets before even thinking about Javascript
