GOAYB is for ratings, not for advertising. And the info exchange is for resources...not advertising your forums. I don't expect us to have an advertisement section here - and don't want it, I just wondered why the rules say that. captmaniac |

If you think about it, getting your forum rated is just like advertising. But you're multi-tasking...if you would call it that. And, there really is no other way to get your forum rated without at least advertising it. When anyone sees the link to your forum, that's advertising. And what about our signatures? Most or some of us advertise sites in our signatures. Should Elindir disable signatures now? No, I don't think so.
But, I would have to agree and disagree with you on your point on the Information Exchange. The Info Exchange is for members to give helpful links and info to other members. Yet some people choose to advertise their forums there...

I found that in the GT rules...Since when is there an advertising board on here? captmaniac I posted the rules back when I first started the forum. And back then in those n00bish days there was going to be an advertisement section. I changed my mind though but just forgot to change the rules  |

If you want to advertise, the best place is in your signature banner and in the affiliate bar. If a separate forum were made for advertising, it would be overkill, and I just wouldn't go there. |
